Jim Jochum, is a partner at Mayer, Brown, Row & Maw and served as Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Import Administration during the Bush Administration (2001-2005), co-chairing two important working groups focused on facilitating trade between China and the U.S. He led the agency responsible for implementing U.S. dual-use export  controls and authorizing the export of U.S. technology to China. In this  capacity, Mr. Jochum was heavily involved in negotiating a new End Use Visit  Arrangement with the Chinese government that facilitated increased U.S. exports to Chinese high-tech firms.

Wenzhao (Connie) Wang served as the Press Officer for the Chinese President Jiang Zemin during his visit to Africa and as a diplomat at  the Chinese Mission to the United Nations in New York. As an  attorney at Mayer, Brown, Row & Maw LLP, Connie provides strategic counseling and practical advice to companies conducting business  with China in the areas of government relations, regulatory solutions, selection of manufacturing and sourcing partners and market entry in China. Connie is a past president of UCBC and since 2004, she has served as Legal Counsel for China Marketing Association, a nation-wide association in China. She was named for "Women to Watch Award"-Women in Business 2006 by Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal.  

Mr. Collin Sun and Mr. Yi Yinn Lee are representatives of the worlds premier business park (SIP-China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park), The SIP is home to 3000 of the  worlds largest firms including several Minnesota firms. It is prominently mentioned in most articles and books written about China including "The World is Flat".

Messrs. Sun and Lee's  short introduction to SIP will be extremely valuable to our members, specially those who are currently or considering manufacturing in China. Minnesota businesses that have interest in doing business in China ought to consider attending this networking event.
